Call Of Duty: Mobile’s success is often spoken about when it comes to mobile gaming, and for mobile gamers to get similar experience, WARZONE MOBILE was Activision’s another step into Mobile Gaming . But what made Activision discontinue their one of the most ambitious projects within a year of its release? And how can the players redeem their in game currency? This blog will help you with all the answers which you seek.
What Was Warzone Mobile?
March 21,2024, Activision released its global project of WZM. It was an initiation of reconstructing a mobile adaptation of the PC and Console version of Call Of Duty: Warzone. The game had modes like “Battle Royale” and “Resurgence” that invited up to 30 squads (or 120 players) in a single lobby.
The Hype
The expectation for Warzone Mobile was immense. The Call Of Duty enthusiasts and mobile gamers community were counting on it. As soon as the announcements were made, Pre Registration numbers skyrocketed for over 15 million sign-ups. The community was thrilled, excited, hoping for a high quality mobile adaptation.
The Fiasco
Warzone Mobile flared up with a huge anticipation, with over 50 million pre registration by the release date but the expectations soon drowned. From the very day of its release players were unsettled by the game’s requirements, which in fact were the high end devices mentioned – ios17/Android 13 or above and hardware devices that needed to be GPU capable. Some of the players weren’t fortunate enough to even experience the game in their devices and the ones who could, complained about the game being poorly optimized, freeze bugs glitches, frame drops, poorly organized UI, heafty monetization and bot lobbies. Some even said that the game wasn’t even ready enough to be released on global versions.
Rescue Efforts
After hearing all the buzz with complaints of anger, Activision kept dropping updates frequently enough to keep their forces alive in the battlefield. The lowering rate of cod points, fixing of SBMM and various optimisations were certain steps taken by Activision to revive the hype, but the game from the root level lacked a very basic but important key element- average requirements for the device.
How could Activision have avoided the screw-up?
How could Activision interpret the fiasco and avoid it?
Refunds or Redeeming? What about in game purchases?
Ever since the announcements made about the “heart breaking” step of discontinuing the Warzone Mobile, the active players in game are concerned about how they can refund their in-game currency (i.e cod points). Well, Activision doesn’t allow refund of in game purchases for Warzone Mobile, instead what players can do is to login in to Call Of Duty: Mobile using their Warzone Mobile information and redeem their in game currency.
Conclusion
Warzone Mobile had a lot of potential with above 50 million people hyped about the game. Only if they had understood that mobile gamers are mobile gamers for a reason, the game would’ve taken a height and had potential to out do Call Of Duty: Mobile.
